Today was one of the greatest days of my life! I gave a speech at the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom to over 250,000 people about something I strongly believe in...an end to racism in the United States! I once heard someone cry out during on of my speeches, “Tell them about your dream, Martin!”. It really got me thinking about my dreams and I know that this moment in my life was going to define the American Civil Rights Movement!
I was feeling a bit nervous as I was walking up those steps at the Lincoln Memorial. I finally expressed my dreams of African Americans living peacefully and equally together with white people. Those people down there are my brothers and my sisters. They were all very interested in what I had to say about being set free of racism. Today, I praise the Lord that I was able to live my dream and give my speech about the unfair laws and truly setting African Americans free.
I have a dream! I have a family that I want to live in a world that is not racist. I am trying to raise my four little ones up in a world that I hope that, one day, they will live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin. I want my children to be judged by their character and what is in their heart. I will continue to fight for my dream...
